Appointment And Oath Of Office For Employees Covered By The Unclassified And Executive Compensation Plans

Preface

 

 

This Executive Order applies to Salt Lake City Corporation employees who are covered by the “Un-Classified” Compensation Plan or covered by the “Executive Employees” Compensation Plan, excluding those employees who are under the direct control or supervision of the Salt Lake City Council. 

 

Under Salt Lake City Ordinance 2.04.010, the Mayor’s powers and duties include:  “Hiring and making all appointments regarding all executive department employees, officers and agents (subject to the advice and consent of the council where required by state law).” 

 

Under Salt Lake City Ordinance 2.42.010, an oath of office must be taken by specified appointed officers and by “officers or employees designated by the mayor by executive order who hold positions of trust or unique responsibility.” 

 

 Therefore, I enact this Executive Order:

 

  

1.       General

 

  

1.1     According to the Compensation Plan for Salt Lake City Corporation Un-Classified Employees, “‘Un-Classified’ employees are ‘appointed’ and ‘at-will’ employees, who are not covered under the City’s Compensation Plan for executive employees and elected officials.” 

 

1.2     According to the Compensation Plan for Salt Lake City Corporation Executive Employees And Elected Officials, “‘Executive’ employees are ‘appointed’ and ‘at-will’ employees serving at the pleasure of the Mayor.”

 

1.3     All positions appointed by the Mayor are positions of trust or unique responsibility.  Accordingly, all officers or employees appointed by the Mayor shall, before entering their respective duties and offices, take and subscribe the constitutional oath of office.  The oath shall be filed with the City Recorder.
