1.       General

 

1.1   The mission of Salt Lake City Corporation’s World Wide Web site is to provide a two-way communication link with City government on a global scale via the Internet.  The goals of the World Wide Web site are to provide direct and convenient access to government information and to promote Salt Lake City on a worldwide basis.

2.       Operating Requirements

 

2.1   Salt Lake City publishes information regarding government and government-sponsored activities and events on its World Wide Web site.  The City also provides electronic links to other locations on the World Wide Web which are relevant to Salt Lake City and its customers.

 

2.2   Content of Salt Lake City’s World Wide Web site is determined at the sole discretion of Salt Lake City Corporation.

 

2.3   The City’s site shall not be used for personal or political purposes.

 

3.       Advertising and Underwriting

 

3.1     Commercial advertising on the City’s World Wide Web site is prohibited.

 

3.2   Underwriting and/or in-kind contributions for the City’s home page must be approved prior to solicitation by the World Wide Web project team and the Mayor.

 

3.3   Contributors shall be acknowledged in writing and/or a link to their World Wide Web site.

 

3.4   The only credit allowed for underwriting or in-kind support is a link, logo, or reference to the underwriter’s name.

4.       Responsibilities

 

4.1   Departments are responsible for providing information about City issues and activities for use on the site.

 

4.2   Department directors or their designees are responsible for approving the content of all information posted to the City’s World Wide Web site by their department.

 

4.3   All material published on the City’s World Wide Web site must follow the design standards developed by the World Wide Web project team or be approved in advance by the World Wide Web project team.

5.       Not a Public Forum

 

5.1   The City’s World Wide Web site is not a public forum for the purposes of the exercise of free speech.  It is exclusively a medium for broadcasting City information.  No citizen shall have the right to use this medium for any purpose or communication.
