RESPONSIBLE CITY AGENCY:   All Departments

KEYWORDS: Jordan River Parkway; Curfew

Preface

The Jordan River Parkway is a valuable amenity in Salt Lake City, providing recreational and social opportunities to citizens.  However, the City has determined that after dark certain portions of the Parkway experience increased crime and other unsafe activities.  The City has determined that a curfew on those portions of the Parkway will further the health, safety, and welfare of the City and its citizens.

Therefore I enact this Executive Order:

1.      General

1.1     Effective on the date of this Executive Order:

a)  The Jordan River Parkway between 2100 South Street and 2200 North Street (the “Restricted Area”) shall be closed to the public between the hours of eleven o’clock (11:00) p.m. and five o’clock (5:00) a.m. the following morning; and

b)  Appropriate City personnel are authorized and directed to enforce such restrictions in accordance with law.

2.      Exemptions

2.1     The hour restrictions established by this Executive Order shall not apply to use of the Restricted Area pursuant to a permit or other permission granted by the City.
