3.02.07 Violence In the Workplace

 

RESPONSIBLE CITY AGENCY:         Division of Human Resources Management.

1.      General

 

1.1     Salt Lake City will not tolerate violent, abusive or threatening behavior on the part of its employees in the work environment.

 

1.2     Employees should report instances of violence to their supervisors.

 

1.3     Supervisors should record, investigate and report instances of violence to security or law enforcement, as appropriate, and to Human Resources.

 

1.4     City employees who display a tendency to engage in violent, abusive, or threatening behavior may be referred to the Employee Assistance Program for counseling, training or other appropriate treatment.  Such employees will also be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including discharge.
