Follow-Up Discussion of Joint Council and Planning Commission Meeting: The Council Chair would like to have a follow-up discussion regarding the issues raised at the joint Council and Planning Commission meeting including the request for Council participation in a joint Citywide Master Plan subcommittee. Councilmember Lambert distributed a draft policy statement for consideration/comments from Council Members. He asked the Council to provide comments to Janice Jardine. GRANT DETAILS:
The funds received from this grant support activities of the Citizen Corp Council.
The Salt Lake City Citizen Corps program supports homeland security by incorporating it into the community wide all-hazards approach to emergency preparedness.
The Salt Lake Citizen Program highlights homeland security issues through prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery.
All Citizen Corps activities compliment existing community services and volunteer opportunities.
Citizen Corps matches skills of volunteers to the needs of first responders in order to free first responders for priority emergency response.
Citizen Corps will provide quarterly training activities and sponsor an annual homeland security and emergency preparedness conference to educate the public.
Citizen Corps will provide legitimate volunteer opportunities for citizens to participate in homeland security, public safety, and emergency preparedness.
Provide citizens with guidelines and a forum for self-help and community service in time of emergency.
